A Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC) acts as a license plate for your shipping unit. The SSCC is a unique 18-digit number that includes an Extension Digit, GS1 Company Prefix, Serial Reference and Check Digit, which remains the same for the life of the logistic unit to which it is assigned. This SSCC is the code you pair with the ASN with your designated EDI software to communicate to trading partners about the contents of that shipping unit. It is to be used in conjunction with your logistics label.

This barcode is designed to hold multiple data strings to support logistic units, such as batch/lot number, expiration date, serial number, etc.

A GLNs is a set of numbers that identifies locations of businesses, physical locations and objects and different departments. This barcode can be used on invoices, logistic units, purchase orders and for internal tracking purposes.
